The biggest mistake is neglecting mammograms, thinking, "There's no history of breast cancer in my family, so I'm not in a risk group." Breast cancer can affect any woman, regardless of her risk group. You can easily rule out cancer if it's detected through a mammogram, but if you present with a lump that's malignant, the process is more difficult and distressing.
Another misconception is that mammograms are often excruciatingly painful. 95% of the time, there's no pain. Some women rarely experience pain during mammograms, which could be due to the technician's inexperience or the woman's naturally sensitive breast tissue.
