Percutaneous Pleural Fluid or Ascites Drainage

Fluid accumulated in the lungs can be easily drained with ultrasound guidance. This treatment, performed percutaneously (through a small needle inserted through the skin), can provide relief to our patients.

Ultrasound-guided needle insertion is crucial to prevent unintended organ injury. The most important thing to remember when draining lung fluid is to ensure that the procedure is performed under ultrasound guidance, regardless of the amount of fluid present.

This will help prevent many complications. Abscesses can also be drained using the same method. An abscess is a localized inflammation found anywhere in the body.

The drainage of these abscesses is safely performed non-surgically, using a catheter inserted under imaging guidance.
