Breast Ultrasonography

Breast ultrasound (ultrasound for short) is a traditional radiation-free procedure that uses sound waves. Breast ultrasound is no different from ultrasounds of other regions. In ultrasound, the radiologist examines the breast tissue, not the technician. Therefore, the quality of the ultrasound depends entirely on the experience of the radiologist performing the ultrasound. Ultrasound is often used as a complementary method after mammography.

The radiologist personally examines areas that are not clearly distinguishable on mammography and, in conjunction with the mammography information, interprets your breast ultrasound examination. Because ultrasound is highly effective at distinguishing solids from liquids, you can immediately determine whether the lumps you detect are cysts.
