When we talk about combined interventional oncology treatment, we generally mean non-surgical cancer treatment approaches that combine radiofrequency ablation with chemoembolization. Chemoembolization can be applied first, followed by radiofrequency ablation, or vice versa.
The selection can be made depending on the patient and the severity of their cancer. Interventional radiologists who specialize in oncological treatments are called interventional oncologists or interventional oncologists.
