Fibroadenomas, which are traditionally indicated for treatment, are treated surgically. However, operations performed for recurrent fibroadenomas are distressing for many young women. Advancing technology has produced multifunctional needles. Vacuum-assisted biopsy needles are now used instead of the standard needles used in pre-operative biopsies, allowing complete removal of fibroadenomas.
